If you’ve driven past 6003 Slide Road lately, you’ve probably noticed some changes. That familiar spot next to Texas Roadhouse — the one that used to house Furr’s Cafeteria — is getting a fresh start. By next spring, it’ll be home to Peter Piper Pizza, bringing a new mix of pizza, games, and family fun to Lubbock.

Construction kicked off July 1, 2025, and if everything stays on track, the doors will open by March 31, 2026. That means by summer, families could be gathering there for pizza nights, parties, and plenty of arcade-style fun.

Howard Smith, Chief Marketing Officer for Pizza Properties, the company behind Peter Piper Pizza, summed up why they chose Lubbock: “We know Lubbock is a big family town and we’re a family concept.” It’s true — with a growing population and strong community ties, family-focused spots tend to thrive here.

Peter Piper Pizza has been around for more than 40 years, and the Lubbock location will be the franchise’s 52nd store. What keeps the concept popular is its all-ages approach. Sure, weekends are big for kids’ birthday parties, but there’s plenty for teens and adults too. From pizza and salads to a lively arcade and social space, the restaurant is built to give everyone something to enjoy.

One feature sure to draw a weekday crowd is the lunch buffet, served Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’ll be a convenient and affordable option for anyone who wants to grab a quick meal without sacrificing quality.

Weekends, of course, will be all about celebrations. Birthday parties have always been a cornerstone of the Peter Piper experience, and the Lubbock location is poised to become a go-to spot for families looking to combine food, fun, and an easy way to host a special day.

This new addition also fills a unique space in Lubbock’s dining and entertainment mix. While the city has plenty of restaurants and several entertainment venues, there aren’t many places that successfully combine both under one roof. Peter Piper Pizza will add more variety and give families a new option for spending time together.

With its prime Slide Road location, easy access from much of the city, and a building well-suited for both dining and entertainment, the stage is set for this to become a busy, well-loved spot. By spring, what was once a quiet cafeteria could be buzzing with kids’ laughter, arcade sounds, and the smell of fresh pizza.

For now, the countdown is on. Construction crews are hard at work, and before long, Lubbock families will have a brand-new place to eat, play, and celebrate — all in one spot.
